XANDAR project meeting in Karlsruhe

In the beginning of October 2022, the second face-to-face meeting of the XANDAR consortium has taken place at the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT) in Germany. For a total duration of three days, 23 consortium members participated in person or joined virtually to review available results, discuss ongoing tasks, and plan future activities.

At the time of the meeting, the XANDAR consortium has successfully achieved the second of five project milestones. From a technical point of view, this means that the model-based frontend of the toolchain is readily available. This includes the availability of a Model-in-the-Loop (MiL) simulator to verify and validate the functional behavior of a system. Use case providers have started to adopt these toolchain capabilities in their ongoing design and implementation efforts, while the focus of the toolchain development work is shifting towards the backend.

On the first day of the meeting, the coordinator provided the consortium with a detailed overview of this status. Afterwards, the project’s strategy for the completion of the third and the fourth milestone (due in the beginning of 2023) was reviewed and revised. Two particularly important aspects for the fulfilment of these milestones are a methodology for the automatic deployment to selected runtime environments and pattern-based code transformations for the fulfilment of safety and security requirements.

Organizational matters were addressed on the second day of the meeting. As part of this, the members of the General Assembly planned XANDAR’s participation at future workshops and conferences, while the Project Innovation and Promotion Board has met to further synchronize about the status of the project’s exploitation strategy.

Distributed to the three days of the meeting, dedicated partner presentations gave additional insights into the technical progress, while fruitful group sessions were held to answer specific technical questions.

The partners appreciated the opportunity for in-person discussions and are looking forward to the next face-to-face meeting, which is planned to be held in the beginning of 2023.
